Norma by Norma, 2004

"I do not know when my love of art began, perhaps before I was born, and my parents played Mahler for me so I might enjoy it there inside, that music and those colors and forms that I perceived were surely the beginning, pure and simple, without prattle about genetics or inheritance… Later, as a quiet (maybe reticent) little girl, I sketched and sketched, always persons, faces… the nose was never right! Time passed and I studied graphical design, bachelor’s and master’s degree at the Universidad Intercontinental… There I had my first encounter with the human figure, those classes on nude drawing were the most enjoyable of the curriculum, I even moonlighted for a couple of classmates… this I confess now that there is no danger and my diploma is framed on the wall next to the staircase. After the University I have taken several courses in art, History of Art at the Instituto Helenico and the Universidad Intercontinental, Artistic Bookbinding at the Juan Pablos Museum, Ceramic Turni...

"The outline of Norma is subtle and accurate, revealing the emphasis in the form it is pronounced with smoothness in the search. The work that she proposes to us is the product of an honest dedication in the technique, of deep pleasures in the exercise and a fidelity to the essence of the personage. Her constant renovation in different workshops give her the security in the outline as well as on the graphic presentation of her works has fortified her so much, causing in the watching a kind of intimacy with the showed work, which leads to one more a clearer appreciation. The way that she is crossing, is share with the paper, offering a harmonic vision of a chaotic world, of bodies and faces in the search of a moment of attention to communicate to us secrets.
